Comp I 10th grade: After vocab practice, we will do a quick review of Sentence, Fragment, Run-on info and then we will take a test.  Read To Kill a Mockingbird when you finish the test.
CIS College Comp: We are looking at Narration today.  Start your prewriting for your Narrative essay.  Finish your "Indian Education" journal assignment from Friday.  It's due today.
Myths & Legends: We will finish viewing Windwalker today and then discuss the Flashback and Foreshadowing techniques used in this film.  Read the critical review of the movie and answer the questions, also.
Young Adult Lit: We are discussing the ending of The River today.  It will be our last work day, too, for this book.  If you haven't finished the vocab, get that done as well. Work on the puzzle review.

Comp 1 10th grade:  We will finish Literary Elements #1 and then do #2 from To Kill a Mockingbird.  Answer TKAM Chap 2 & 3 questions and vocab.
CIS College Comp I:  We will read "Indian Education" by S Alexie on page 135.  Write a journal on these 2 questions:  
What is the thesis of this essay?  Put it into your own words. In your opinion, which “Grade” had the greatest impact on you as you read it?  Explain why.
Myths and Legends: We are watching Windwalker Part 2, a Native American story.  Answer questions about the plot as you watch.
Young Adult Lit:  We will discuss Chapters 17-18 of The River and then read, quiz, and write a summary.

Comp I: After vocab practice, we will review for a Sentence-Fragment-Run-on test, which will be on Monday.  Keep reading To Kill a Mockingbird chapter 2.
CIS College Comp:  We will look at what a thesis statement should be (p.32-35) and go over Exercise 8 together, adding it to our notes.  Read "Sixty-Nine Cents" by Gary Shteyngart on pages 102-104 and answer these questions:  Comprehension #6, Purpose and Audience #1,2, 3.
Myths & Legends:  First, we will discuss Story Notes on "How Mosquitoes Came to Be," "Flying Head," and "Ash Lad."  Then we will talk about Flashback and Foreshadowing in the film Windwalker.  We'll start viewing that Native American story, part 1.
Young Adult Lit:  First, we will discuss the Adventure Genre and take notes on its characteristics.  Then, we will discuss Chapters 15-16 in The River.  Read, summarize, and quiz as you go.

Comp I 10th grade: After vocab practice, we will review Run-on sentences and how to fix them.  Work on fixing the RO's in RO#2.  Read To Kill a Mockingbird when you are finished.
College Comp I CIS: We are having a work day today.  Finish S-F-RO#1 and "Only Daughter" because both assignments are DUE TODAY.  Then upload this document on the Polynesian Diet and fix the sentence structure and paragraphing problems. Polynesian Diet - Fix Sentence Structure & Paragraphing
Myths & Legends: We meet before lunch today because of the Early Out. We will go to the computers and work on Online Folktales at Pantheon.org.
Young Adult Lit:  Today we will discuss Chapters 12-14 in The River.  Keep reading, quizzing, and summarizing.  Start on the "A" contract book Shane when you finish The River.

Comp I:  After vocab practice, we will go over the 4 kinds of Run-on sentences and learn various ways to fix them.  Assignment:  Hardee's Paragraph and Fix RO's #1.  Then, read in To Kill a Mockingbird Chapter 2.
College Comp I CIS:  First, we will discuss "Only Daughter" by Ciscernos.  I'm not going to give you the answers to yesterday's assignment, but we'll get close to them.  :)  Then, we will start another Paragraphing and S-F-RO practice from this uploaded document. Polynesian Diet S-F-RO & Paragraphing
Myths and Legends:  We will discuss the story notes for "How Mosquitoes Came to Be" and the "Flying Head, etc."  Then, I will introduce the Beowulf legend and you will read it and answer the Discussion Questions.
Young Adult Lit: We will discuss Chapters 9-11 in The River.  Read, quiz, and write your summary at the end of the hour.

10th Grade Comp I:   We will also work on PAGE 286, Fixing Fragments. Combine sentences so there are no fragments.  Keep on reading To Kill a Mockingbird.  Start at Chapter 2.
College Comp:  We are discussing INVENTION and the writing process.  Then, do Exercise 1, p21.
Read  “Only Daughter” by Sandra Cisneros (p. 97 )
Answer questions on Purpose and Audience and Style and Structure on p. 100.
Myths & Legends:  We are reading "How Mosquitoes Came to Be" and two other tales as we apply the 5 ways to develop Characterization in writing.
Young Adult Lit:  We will discuss Chapters 6-8 today in The River and then read, quiz, and write a summary.
