Myths, Legends, & Tales:  After discussing "Characterization" and taking notes on the author's 5 methods of revealing characters, we will read three short folktales:  "How Mosquitoes Came to Be," "The Flying Head," and the "Ash Lad Eating Contest w/ a Troll."  Answer the story questions on your own paper.
CIS College Comp:  After we practice ACT questions, we will discuss what a good thesis accomplishes.  We will read "Finishing School" by Maja Anjelou and tomorrow we will form discussion groups and figure out the implied thesis of this selection.  
Speech: After vocab practice, we will read The Last of the Breed read for ten minutes. Then, we will continue writing questions for our "Keep 'Em Talking" interview.
Young Adult Lit:  We will take some notes and discuss Chapters 6-7 in The River.  Then, we will read the novel.  Write a summary of what you read today. It must be at least 5 sentences and it must "cover" what you read.  Be sure you turn in a Summary Page #1 today.
Bible Lit:  We will take a quick group quiz to review last week's important info.  Then, we will take notes on Bible Geography and so a geography search together with a partner.

Myths, Legends, & Tales:  After discussing "Story of Keesh," we will review PLOTLINE ELEMENTS.   Draw the plotline for two movies you have seen.
CIS College Comp:  After we practice ACT questions, we will discuss "Only Daughter" and answer the questions under Purpose & Audience and Style & Structure.  
Speech: After vocab practice, we will read The Last of the Breed read for ten minutes. Then, we will continue with our Impromptu speeches.  
Young Adult Lit:  We will take some notes and discuss Chapters 4 -5 in The River.  Then, we will read the novel.  Write a summary of what you read today. It must be at least 5 sentences and it must "cover" what you read.
Bible Lit:  I hope you brought your Bible!!  We will do a Review Quiz together and then practice using a Bible while we play a Bible Search Game.

CIS College Comp:  After we practice ACT questions, we will take notes on "Invention, Chapter 2." Read "Only Daughter" and answer the questions under Purpose & Audience and Style & Structure.  Explain your answers.  Remember your journal assignment from yesterday is due today.
Speech: After vocab practice, I will introduce The Last of the Breed, and we will read for ten minutes. Then, we will start our Introduction speeches.  
Young Adult Lit:  We will take some notes and discuss Chapters 4 -5 in The River.  Then, we will read the novel.  Write a summary of what you read today. It must be at least 5 sentences and it must "cover" what you read.
Bible Lit:  I hope you brought your Bible!!  We are learning how to use the Bible today.  We will take a look at all the books in it by doing an Overview wkst.  If there is time, we will start a Different Versions assignment, too.

Myths, Legends, & Tales:  After discussing Conflict, you will read "Dakota Legend" and answer the story questions.    Decide what kind of conflict is in this story and explain it.  Make sure you turned in "Legendary Characters." 
CIS College Comp:  After we review the syllabus for this class, we will look at the 5 areas of Discussion for Literature and my expectations.   We will read "What's in a Name?" on page 5.  Take notes on this info.  Then, at the  computer, write a Journal Entry on this article.
Speech: After vocab practice, I will introduce The Last of the Breed, and we will read for ten minutes. Then, we will start our Introduction speeches.  
Young Adult Lit:  We will take some notes and discuss the Exposition of The River.  Then, we will read the novel.  Write a summary of what you read today. It must be at least 5 sentences and it must "cover" what you read.
Bible Lit:  I hope you brought your Bible!!  We are learning about how the ancient manuscripts were copied.  Then, we will practice writing as they did while we "copy" Psalm 23.  We will also take a look at all the books in the bible and do a Bible Overview sheet.

Myths, Legends, & Tales:  After an Overview of the class, you will take notes on the difference between myths, legends, and fables.  Then, you will work on "Legendary Characters." Make a folder for yourself.
CIS College Comp:  After we go over the syllabus for this class, you will write your opinion about taking a CIS class.  Here is the info you need: CIS College Comp Survey Day 1 Make a folder for yourself.
Speech: After an overview of the class, we will watch the rest of To Kill a Mockingbird.  Then, we will start our Introduction speeches.  Yes, there is vocab for this class, too! Make a folder for yourself.
Young Adult Lit:  After an overview of the class, we will start reading The River.  First, I will introduce the novel.  Write a summary of what you read today. Make a folder for yourself.
Bible Lit:  After an overview, you will take some notes called "Bible Facts" and then do a survey called, "What Do You Know?"  Make a folder for yourself.

Comp I:   We will watch To Kill a Mockingbird.  Make sure you have gotten all your make-up work and have taken your final exam.  Get your Reading Record in also.  Did you remember to show me your notebook check, too?
CIS College Comp:  We will write the comparison/ contrast paper in class this week.  Also, get your best essay revised for your final exam.  
Myths & Tales:  We are watching Lightning Thief the last three days of class!  Record all the allusions to Greek mythology that you see.  Did you get your Final Exam taken and your make-up work in?  Also, turn in your book Lightning Thief, if you haven't already.
Young Adult Lit:  Today we are taking our final exam on Wednesday.  I will still accept the review work and make-up work through Friday.  Get your Reading Record and all books turned in to me, too.
